After recovering from injuries sustained in a confrontation with Bloodsport, Christopher Smith returns home, but his freedom comes with joining the secret A.R.G.U.S. team called Project Butterfly. He teams up with Leota Adebayo, Emilia Harcourt, and John Economus to destroy parasitic creatures called Butterflies. These creatures take over human bodies and pose a global threat. In the first season, Pacemaker confronts his past, including his complicated relationship with his father, Augie Smith (White Dragon). In the second season, which takes place after the events of Superman (2025), Rick Flag Sr. hunts Pacemaker to avenge his son's death. The story culminates with the arrival of characters such as Vigilante and Sasha Bordeaux, and multiverse twists, which force Pacemaker to make moral choices.
