Christopher Smith returns home after recovering from injuries sustained in a confrontation with Bloodsport, but his freedom comes with joining the secret A.R.G.U.S. team known as Project Butterfly. He teams up with Leota Adebayo, Emilia Harcourt, and John Economus to destroy parasitic creatures known as butterflies. These creatures take over human bodies and pose a global threat. In the first season, Pacemaker confronts his past, including his complicated relationship with his father, Auggie Smith (White Dragon). In the second season, which takes place after the events of Superman (2025), Pacemaker is hunted by Rick Flag Sr. to avenge his son’s death. The story culminates with the arrival of characters such as Vigilante and Sasha Bordeaux, and multiverse twists, presenting Pacemaker with moral choices.
